Who we are
Ansari Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (ARAA) is a national non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 1992. Since its inception, ARAA has been dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance based on the principles of human rights, Islamic and cultural values, and socio-environmental sustainability. The organization primarily focuses on serving vulnerable populations in the western and northwestern regions of Afghanistan.
ARAA strives to develop programs and projects that contribute to community relief, rehabilitation, and development. The organization firmly believes that sustainable development and humanitarian goals cannot be achieved without the active participation of women, who remain among the most vulnerable groups in the country.
The organization is governed by a Board of Directors (Steering Committee) composed of five members, chaired by a designated leader. The Committee is responsible for developing strategic policies, reviewing organizational affairs, making key decisions, and addressing operational challenges. It also holds the authority to appoint or replace the Executive Director when necessary.
ARAA’s guiding principles are outlined in its bylaw, which defines the organization’s strategic vision and operational framework. Each sector of activity is further supported by specific operational manuals.
The organization’s executive structure includes the following units: Program Development, Administration, Finance, Logistics, Engineering, and Field Units. These units are equipped with the required tools, resources, and skilled personnel. Currently, ARAA employs around 150 staff members, including 16 in administration, 5 in program development, and others are project-based.
