Brief Biography
Born in 1961 in Herat, Afghanistan, Mr. Abdul Wahid Mukhlis graduated from Kamaluddin Behzad High School in 1979. In 1983, he migrated to Pakistan, where he began his humanitarian career. In 1984, he joined as the International Relations Director for the Western Region, focusing on IDPs, returnees, and host communities, a position he held until 1986. From 1987 to 1991, he worked as a Cultural and Media Correspondent.
In 1992, Mr. Mukhlis, along with the trustee board, established ARAA, a non-governmental organization dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to communities affected by conflict in Western Afghanistan. Since then, he has continued to serve in several positions and now he serves as Executive Director of ARAA to support in development of NGO.
Mr. Mukhlis is an active member of his community in Western Afghanistan and serves as a volunteer member of the Provincial Council of Herat Province. He is fluent in Dari and Pashto, with working proficiency in English. He is also skilled in modern management tools and computer programs, knowledge he has strengthened through numerous national and international workshops and trainings.
