ARAA

Since 1992, ARAA has implemented more than 350 projects across Afghanistan, with a strong presence in Herat, Ghor, Badghis, Farah, Kabul, Parwan, Pajsher, Daykundi, Nimroz, and Helmand provinces. Our work focuses on the following sectors:

  1. Protection and Reintegration (including Community-Based Protection, Child protection, Documentation, case management, PSN, GBV, PSEA, and advocacy)
  2. Emergency Response (ES/NFI distribution, winterization, site management, and camp coordination)
  3. Food Security and Livelihoods (income generation, vocational training, CBI, and agricultural support)
  4. WASH and Health (Mental Health Psychosocial Services – MHPSS, water and sanitation, hygiene promotion, health awareness)
  5. Education (Child-friendly spaces at the schools – CFS, literacy programs, community awareness, home-based schooling)
  6. Agriculture and Irrigation (seed/fertilizer distribution, livestock, poultry, saffron, vineyards, irrigation schemes)
  7. Construction and Infrastructure (schools, clinics, shelters, roads, water systems)
  8. Social Affairs and Governance (capacity building, women’s empowerment, advocacy, vocational training)

Key Achievements

  1. Over 350 projects implemented since 1992 across humanitarian and development sectors.
  2. Long-term partnership with UNHCR since 2002 for protection, reintegration, and emergency response.
  3. Managed large-scale emergency responses, including drought, Badghis earthquake, Herat earthquake, inflows of the Afghan returnees from Iran by the Islam Qala border, displacement, and integration of returnees, force returns of Badghis Camps to their original areas by the DFA, and COVID-19.
  4. Recognized with multiple appreciation certificates from donors and government authorities.
  5. Managed large-scale emergency responses, including the drought crisis, the Badghis and Herat earthquakes, large inflows of Afghan returnees from Iran through the Islam Qala border, internal displacement, reintegration of returnees, the forced return of families from Badghis camps to their areas of origin by authorities, and the COVID-19 pandemic response.

Ansari Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (ARAA) is a national non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political organization established in 1992. ARAA has been serving vulnerable populations across Afghanistan, particularly in the Western Region, through humanitarian and development programs. The organization is officially registered with the Ministry of Economy (Reg. No. 199) and remains committed to humanitarian principles, human rights, and community resilience.
